The Ten Commandments are God's moral guidelines for all people in all generations. If God wanted us to live in moral uncertainty, He would have given us Ten Suggestions, not Ten Commandments!

Ephesians 1:4

_For He chose us in Christ before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight_

*Week #5 Memory Verse*:

*A thought*:

The greatest celebration in the life of Israel is the Passover festival. They rejoice with great gladness as they remember their deliverance from Egypt. You have experienced a greater deliverance. Does it cause your heart to rejoice? Thanks be to God for our Passover lamb - Jesus Christ.

*Week #5 Memory Verse*:

*A thought*:

The more we resist God's Word and the more we refuse to do the divine bidding, the harder and more stubborn our hearts become. The tragedy is that, when we insist on having our own way, God may let us have it.

*Week #4 Memory Verse*:

Philippians 1:6 (your last chance to memorize this very encouraging verse before we move on to Week #5)

_Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ_

If we're to be successful in this life, then we must regard this as a central truth: There are no detours around God's will, and anything short of total obedience to God is disobedience.

*Week #4 Memory Verse*:

Philippians 1:6

*A thought*:

No one can do God's work effectively in this world until they have graduated from His "School of Patience". And patience, according to one definition, is "the ability to count down before blasting off". You want to blast off and zoom ahead in life? Now you know what to do.

*Week #4 Memory Verse*:

*Week #4 Memory Verse*:

*A thought*:

Take care not to interpret the days of obscurity and isolation as meaningless and unimportant. It is there that God prepares His servants for the spiritual challenges that lie ahead. Anybody feels under 'preparation' at the moment? Blessed are you! 😇

*Week #4 memory verse*:

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

*Week #4 memory verse:*

Philippians 1:6 (how will you summarize this beautiful verse in 3 words - each starting with 'C'?)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

*A thought:*

Some use unpleasant situations and difficulties as an excuse for becoming bitter and hostile. But God intends that life's trials should make us better - not bitter. How are you reacting to what is happening in your life at the moment - with despair or delight?

Week #3 memory verse: *(your last opportunity to memorize this definition of FAITH 'cos tomorrow we'll move on to Week #4 memory verse)*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Jacob meets Esau - Gen.33:1-16

Jacob's return to Shechem - Gen.33:17-20

Dina's defilement - Gen.34:1-12

*A thought:*

Have you ever stopped everything and said this one thing to God - your name? Jacob was a schemer, a trickster, a deceiver. And you? What is your name? Ego? Bulldozer? Fear? Bitter? Regret? Self-pity? Loser? A new name doesn't come until we say the old one. In other words, confession is catharsis! (Catharsis means purification or purgation of emotions)

*Week #3 memory verse:*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Chiefs of Edom - Gen.36:40-43, I Chro. 1:51-54

Jacob's departure from Laban - Gen.31:17-32

*A thought:*

God often accomplishes His purposes with us despite our waywardness and stubbornness. But how much grief we would spare ourselves if we would learn to wait on God and follow His words!

*Week #3 memory verse:*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Sunday, 17 January 2021

Jacob's closing days with Laban - Gen.30:25-43, 31:1-16

*A thought:*

Have you heard of the"Laban Principle"? It says that those who scheme to have their own way, as opposed to God's way, often have a head-on collision with someone who is their equal as a schemer.

*Week #3 memory verse:*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Saturday, 16 January 2021

Isaac's truce with Abimelech - Gen.26:26-33

Jacob obtains Esau's blessing - Gen.27:1-46

*A thought:*

When we lean upon our own reason rather than on God's clear demands, we run counter to the design of the universe. The theory that the end justifies the means maybe part of man's order, but it is not part of the eternal scheme.

*Week #3 memory verse:*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Friday, 15 January 2021

Birth of Esau and Jacob - Gen.25:19, 21-26

*A thought:*

No matter how effective and important a man maybe, his time and work on this earth are limited. How gratifying, therefore, to know that though God buries His workman, He always carries on His work!

*Week #3 memory verse:*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

15 Jan 2021

Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac - Gen.22:1-19

Abraham learns of Nahor's family - Gen.22:20-24

Death of Sarah - Gen.23:1-20

*A thought:*

Faith never quibbles at God's demands, even though those demands sometimes go against reason. But what is faith? No greater definition of faith has ever been given than that contained in the simple acrostic: Forsaking All I Trust Him 😊

*Week #3 memory verse:*

Hebrew 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Wednesday, 13 January 2021

14 Jan 2021

Abraham's prayer for Lot answered - Gen.19:29

Abraham's later years: Lies to Abimelech - Gen.20:1-18

*A thought:*

How do God-believers react in times of emergency or great crisis? They react, as did Abraham, by turning to God in fervent, believing prayer. Life's best outlook is a prayerful uplook! 😊

*Week #2 memory verse:*

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for the good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

Circumcision, a sign - Gen.17:9-14

Son promised and Sarai becomes Sarah - Gen.17:15-19

Ishmael's destiny foretold - Gen.17:20-27

*A thought:*

When God wants to turn a situation from despair to delight, all He has to do is breathe into it. The aspirate sound (the letter 'h') is inserted in Abram's and Sarai's names, thus indicating that the breath of God was at work. He does the same with the word 'impossible'. He breathes into it and it becomes 'Him-possible'

*Week #2 memory verse:*

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

12 Jan 2021

*Day 12/365 (Jan 12) PORTIONS TO READ:*

*God calls Abraham*

(We're back to Genesis... where we left... Someone said you can divide the Bible into 2 parts - Genesis 1-11 chapters make up the first part; Genesis 12 to end of the Bible make up the second part. Any idea why?)

The life of faith, though intriguing and exciting, is never without its periods of testing. Are you in such a period at this moment? Then take heart 👍 God tests in order to entrust

*Week #2 Memory verse:*

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Job humbly submits to God - Job 42:1-6

Job prays (intercedes) for his friends - Job 42:7-10a

Job's renewed blessings - Job 42:10b-17

*A thought:*

God often deals with our problems and difficulties, not by removing them, but by giving us a greater vision of Himself. This may not remove the irritating circumstances, but it deepens our conviction that God knows what He is doing 😇

*Week #2 Memory verse:*

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

*A thought:*

The best time to learn the art of navigation is not when you are in a storm, prior to it. How would you cope with a Job-sized problem?

*Week #2 memory verse:*

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

09 Jan 2021

Job, a burden to himself - Job 30:15-31

*A thought*:

Why do bad things happen to good people? If you've often pondered that problem,

you're not alone. There is only one answer: God allows bad things to happen to His people

only if He sees a way of turning the bad into a greater good.

*Week#2 Memory Verse*:

Romans 8:28 (This is too good!)

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are

the called according to his purpose.

*Third round of speeches:*

Eliphaz reproves Job - Job 22:1-30

Job complains that God has withdrawn - Job 23:1-17

*A thought:*

Life makes sense ONLY when we learn to see it from God's point of view. This is what turned the tide for Job, and this is what will turn the tide for you. Is life unfair to you? Then look at it from God's perspective 😇 Now what do you see?

*Week #2 Memory verse:*

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things works together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Bildad reproves Job - Job 18:1-21

*A thought:*

Many in today's Church follow the pattern of Job's counsellors - giving advice before making sure they understand the problem. Never try to win a person to your point of view until you're sure you understand theirs.

*Week #1 Memory Verse:* (Last opportunity to memorize 😊 )

 Colossians 1:16-17

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

*A thought:*

It is not sinful or 'unspiritual' to acknowledge one's confusion in the presence of sickness, distress or suffering. Emotions that are not faced cause trouble. You don't have to agree with them, but you do have to face them in God's strength 👍

*JOB'S AFFLICTION*

Introduction:

The book of Job discusses undeserved suffering (i.e. why bad things happen to good people). Job's friends insisted he was suffering as punishment for his sin. But Job defended himself by insisting that he had done nothing seriously wrong. Then why did he suffer? No simple solution is given to the problem of suffering. Job finally admitted that God is too great and wonderful for us to understand. Even after losing everything he owned and suffering from a terrible sickness, Job still loved and trusted God. That's a great example for us. When things go wrong, let us not question God, instead trust Him and accept His perfect will. What a faithful God we have!

*A thought:*

Genealogy could read as census, dull and uninteresting but it is a lesson in how God pays attention to details. He is concerned not only about the general features of your life, but every detail of it. Remember that the next time you feel God doesn't care.

*A thought:*

Satan has a well worked-out strategy with which he tempts humanity. He appeals (1) to the lust of the flesh, (2) to the lust of the eyes and (3) to the pride of life. Are you able to discern this strategy at work in your life? And are you overcoming it? Try purity and humility!

*Week #1 memory verse:*

 Colossians 1:16-17

Bible 365 day1

 *Bible 1/365:*

We'll be starting in Genesis ...

The book of Genesis records the origins of both sacred and secular history. Commencing 2021 with the book of beginnings can be a new beginning in our lives of a deeper love for the Lord and His Word. The first 2000 years of history are contained in the first 11 chapters and are characterized by 4 major & significant events: Creation (origin of all things), Corruption (Sin of Adam & Eve), Condemnation (Flood during Noah's time) and Confusion (Tower of Babel and multicultural world)

*A thought:*

If, as the Bible teaches, man is the only being in creation who bears the "image" of God, then ask yourself today: How much of God's image is reflected in me?

*Week #1 memory verse:* Colossians 1:16-17
